Buckshots is the 16th episode in the series.
Plot Synopsis[]
Given permission to enter the island's lighthouse, Wake, Ezra, Eloy, Redd, Risf, and Zia’ka, along with an unconscious Calliope, began looking for any clues to help them remove the island’s curse, discovering an incomplete cure disease potion that may be vital to their quest. Soon enough, Calliope woke from her slumber, begrudgingly agreeing to assist our heroes, and became the only form of communication with Wake, who had lost the ability to speak as his transformation into a deer progressed. Advancing further into the tower, they found the body of the structure’s master and a note saying that the potion required only one more ingredient, poison oak, before it could be added to Carble, completing the gargoyle.
The group departed the lighthouse with Carble to hunt down the desired plant and was greeted by several undead deer abominations, which were quickly subdued by the gargoyle’s sonic screech. Making their way through the forest with a now fully changed deer Wake, they encountered more abominations and horrific, skeletal deer creatures. Wake took advantage of his new form, sneaking closer while pretending to be just an ordinary animal. Showing surprising command of his new body, Wake dispatched several of the macabre deer himself while the remaining enemies were dealt with by the rest of the party. The path ahead now clear, everyone proceeded through the forest until they came upon a clearing containing the very plant they needed.
Through the combined efforts of Calliope, Redd, and Zia’ka, the group was able to harvest the poison oak and complete the potion. Dawn breaking over the island, they began the trek back to the town, where they discovered Nedra, Pliskin, Skrung, and Onslow holed up and prepared for battle in the tavern. Apparently, more deer abominations had attempted to abduct Onslow during the night. Despite the pleasant atmosphere of our heroes’ reunion, Calliope was unsettled as she sensed a malevolent gaze upon her.
