GIANT BIRDS OF DEATH is the 3rd episode in the series.
Plot Synopsis[]
Our heroes stood cautiously as a massive gator-man approached them and introduced himself as Onslow Green. After a brief introduction and a musical duel with Eloy, it became apparent that the gator was not their enemy. Onslow informed the boys that he was hired for the same mission they were assigned and that the next morning an expedition to the wilds north of Jahal Cove would begin. Intent on gathering more information, Wake, Eloy, and Ezra decided to make their way to Black Street, seeking entrance to the lair of the Thieves’ Guild and a meeting with their mysterious leader, Deimos.
After being given the runaround by Black Street’s locals, our crew managed to make their way to their destination, but a brief altercation with Skrung made our heroes the focus of unwanted attention from passersby. Thinking quickly, Eloy distracted the crowd with the ballad of the mighty, fist-fighting, rat-man Billy Punchyface. The crisis averted, Eloy, Ezra, Wake, and Skrung made their way to audience with Deimos. The mystical rat man informed them of some of the dangers on their path but also a good place to find aid in the north should they need it.
The next day, search parties were formed among those Governor Meed deemed worthy of the task. Eloy convinced Wake and Ezra that their new friend Onslow would be the best fit for the group, and they headed off to the north. Our heroes’ path swarmed with tropical birds, and their songs and cries became deafening as they walked further and further into the dense jungle until they came upon a large tree, then silence. However, upon approaching the tree, an earth shattering screech erupted from its branches as a mighty, carriage-sized dire macaw emerged from the foliage. Backed up by four more immense birds, the horrifying beast attacked. The ensuing battle left Ezra at death’s door, but, due to quick thinking and steady nerves, the foul fowl were ultimately vanquished. With Ezra nursing his wounds, only one question crossed his mind. How could this day get any worse?
